Tacoma Parks Commissioner Position 3

Commisioner Reyes moved to Tacoma in 2020 with his wife of 13 years and his two boys that are now in middle school. He is a nurse of 15 years, his entire career having been dedicated to behavioral health nursing. Pete was born and raised in West Texas but chose to put down roots in Tacoma because he believes that Tacoma is a place that seeks to enrich its citizens. Pete stays active by going biking and paddle-boarding. He enjoys attempting to grow dahlias, cooking for his family, and has 2 chickens in his backyard.
Prior to being appointed to the board he served on the Parks Tacoma Active Living and Community Wellness advisory council for 3 years. He has volunteered in park litter pick-ups, work parties, and as a beach steward with the Tacoma Nature Center. Pete has been active participating in community committees with the Hilltop Action Coalition and 2nd Cycle Community Bike Shop.
Pete was raised by a single mother that provided by working jobs in the food service industry. This meant that he started life on public assistance programs and understands that park spaces and events are essential as low cost or no cost options for community wellness.
